Was ist NEO
Man nennt NEO auch das Ethereum Chinas. Es ist eine Entwicklerplattform für Smart Contracts. Damit ähnelt es sowohl Ethereum als auch LISK. NEO ist im Herbst 2017 vor allem dadurch aufgefallen, dass der dazugehörige NEO-Token einen vielfachen Preisanstieg hinlegte.
Smart Contracts sind automatisierte Verträge nach dem Muster: Wenn Fall A eintritt zahlt Partei X der Partei Y eine gewisse Menge Geld. Wenn Fall B eintritt, dann passiert etwas anderes. Diese Verträge sollen automatisierbare Prozesse ermöglichen. Zum Beispiel Wetten oder Versicherungen.
Damit diese Smart Contracts garantiert ablaufen, braucht es die Blockchain. NEO stellt so eine Blockchain bereit und dazu auch einen Rahmen, in dem Entwickler Smart Contracts schreiben und veröffentlichen können.
Noch ist nicht klar, wie sehr Smart Contracts das Geschäftswesen wirklich verändern werden, dennoch werden Plattformen wie NEO ihre Berechtigung erhalten. Für Entwickler und Unternehmen stellt sich nun die Frage: Ethereum, LISK, Quantum oder NEO?
Ethereum ist die erste und größte Plattform für Smart Contracts. Es bietet eine eigene Programmiersprache namens Solidity. Dies hat den Nachteil, dass ein Entwickler diese erst lernen muss, bevor sie angewendet werden kann.
LISK lässt sich mit JavaScript programmieren, eine Sprache, die vor allem im Web so etwas wie ein Standard ist. NEO wiederum gibt noch mehr Freiheit in der Auswahl an Programmiersprachen.
NEO ist ein chinesisches Projekt. Damit gibt es momentan eine gewisse Unsicherheit, da China im September 2017 Kryptowährungen verboten hat. Es gibt jedoch Anzeichen, dass dies nur temporär ist. Dann hat NEO einen guten Stand mit seiner Ausrichtung auf den asiatischen Markt. So gibt es ein nicht-öffentliches Blockchain-Projekt namens OnChain das heute schon erfolgreich vom Handelsriesen AliBaba verwendet wird. Es wird eine Zusammenarbeit von OnChain und NEO geben. Dies wird der chinesischen Smart Contract Plattform großen Aufschub geben.
NEO ist mit einer Marktkapitalisierung von 1,7 Milliarden US-Dollar im November 2017 die siebtwertvollste Kryptowährung.
